What makes an insurance agency great? Knowledgeable, experienced, helpful and ethical agents, to be sure. Working with a broad array of reputable companies to offer quality options and customized solutions, certainly counts, as well. And, of course, it's nice to do business with an agency that consistently demonstrates a commitment to its community.

But often what sets an agency apart is the way it responds when something bad happens. Whether it's a teen driver's first 

fender-bender or a business warehouse going up in flames, a conscientious insurance agent is among the first to respond. And once that happens, it's a claims specialist's turn to step to the fore — to empathize with the client, to comfort and reassure, to explain the process of what to do next and what to expect after that. A good insurance claims specialist does all those things.

We're not interested in good.

Sylvia Group has an opening for an Insurance Claims Executive, but if you're merely good, don't bother applying. We're going for great.

The person we hire to lead our two-person claims team will do what I've described above, but he or she also will do much more. In addition to carefully guiding clients through the claims process when a loss does occur, the Insurance Claims Executive will work with account teams to identify a clients' areas of risk and provide tools designed to minimize the number of claims each client might otherwise have to file. In addition to advocating on the client's behalf to achieve a satisfactory claims resolution, the executive will follow up analysis and reports, to help clients understand what took place and what affects the claim may have in the future.

We want what began as a bad event to become the best customer-service experience the client has ever had. We want greatness.
