Insurance Claims Executive

If you’re an insurance professional ready to join our team in the claims executive role, you’ll work with our client service teams to identify areas of risk and provide tools to help prevent or mitigate risk.  In the event of a loss, you’ll navigate the client through the sometimes bumpy claims experience. When bad things happen, people naturally are unhappy, but thanks to your careful guidance and advocacy, our clients will be grateful for our agency’s foresight in providing appropriate protection and thrilled by the satisfactory resolution of the claims process.

What you’ll be doing

As a full-time claims executive, you’ll lead a two-person team serving as primary client contact for new and ongoing commercial and personal insurance claims. You must possess an understanding of the account claims submission process and loss-control concepts, and be committed to empathetic client stewardship through the life cycle of each claim. You’ll work with account service teams to advise clients on future premium and underwriting effects of claims activity. Responsibility includes documenting follow-up activity, entering data in the agency management system and coordinating with clients and carriers for the successful resolution of claims, including active and conclusive communication to clients. In addition, you’ll take first reports and advise clients on preparation of documentation, appeals and necessary paperwork. Maintaining contact information and relationships with key personnel in top insurance carrier claims divisions will be your responsibility.  

The claims executive role includes research and preparation of commercial client claims history reports, including trending analysis to culminate in client-facing written and verbal presentations in coordination with the account producer and service team.  You must possess assertive communication and negotiation skills to aggressively advocate with carriers on behalf of our clients, and to intercede when necessary to achieve a successful outcome.

Other responsibilities include: deployment to selected commercial clients of internally and externally sourced loss-control resources from carrier partners; development of customized loss-control material relating to safety culture and specific risk-management initiatives, fleet management, OSHA reporting; and agency portal resources; and maintenance of relationships with loss-control services, resources and key personnel available from carriers and vendors. You’ll also be required to serve as a resource to both personal and commercial agency staff and to facilitate ongoing internal education on claims and loss-control issues.  

In your tool kit

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • five or more years of agency, carrier or corporate claims-handling experience.
  • a college degree.
  • proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • the ability to build relationships and present detailed information.

Experience with claims information management software tools such as ModMaster is valuable, as is knowledge of the AMS360 agency management system.

What you’ll be doing

Commercial Lines Producers forge new client relationships by designing programs that reduce the cost of risk and make clients more attractive to the insurance marketplace. By analyzing level of exposure and addressing gaps in coverage with your clients, you’ll serve as a trusted partner in developing solutions that drive down their long-term costs and help them meet their business objectives.

Personal Insurance Producers generate business by recognizing and addressing current and prospective clients’ needs and working together to find solutions that are right for them. Under the direction of the Sales Manager, you’ll be able to exercise your drive to work independently while enjoying the support of an outstanding team.

In your tool kit

An existing book of business, a strong commitment to industry education, advanced communication skills, networking and relationship building are essential to getting the job done. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and demonstrate strong self-management skills and leadership qualities.

High expectations

As a Producer, you'll pursue and close sales of new and existing accounts while retaining an assigned book of business. You'll be required to write new business that meets or exceeds targets for premium volume, commission and number of accounts while adhering to agency service standards and timelines. Producers plan, lead and control their personal production levels and servicing in a manner consistent with agency goals for growth, mix of business and profitability.
